Land management
The unique nature of the rich agricultural land we operate on requires a specialised approach.
We minimise our footprint though the co-use of existing infrastructure, optimised well design, and deviated drilling.
Before we step onto a property, we ensure our vehicles are free of any dirt or weeds that could pose a potential biohazard and that we have the required access permissions.
We take the time to get to know each property and create a fit-for-purpose plan which outlines how we will operate and work with the landholder.
Our rigorous monitoring program includes Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR), Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data surveys, groundwater monitoring, and groundwater bore and baseline assessments.
Kogan waxflower
Find out how we’re using the latest cloning technology and horticultural techniques to protect the Kogan waxflower, a threatened shrub native to the Western Downs.
Water management
Quality, reliable groundwater is vital for farming, industry, and homes.
We have a comprehensive program in place, which includes monitoring water levels and quality.
We work with the independent Office of Groundwater Impact Assessment, including sharing data.
Arrow is progressing plans to build a new water network that will see treated water returned to landholders for beneficial use to offset potential impacts from our operations.
Energy management
The Australian Government’s Future Gas Strategy states that gas will remain an important source of energy through to 2050 and beyond.
Natural gas is essential for reaching net zero in Australia and the region, supporting the transition away from coal, helping unlock renewable energy deployment, and powering Australian industries including those processing the critical minerals required to achieve net zero.
Arrow Energy’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategy supports the Australian Government’s target of net zero emissions by 2050.
Since 2015, we have significantly reduced our emissions intensity by replacing vents with flares and reducing flaring rates through improved well field management and increased gas field interconnections.
As part of our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, we have also implemented fuel gas efficiency improvement projects and electrified gas production wells where feasible.
Subsidence management
Monitor, mitigate, and manage.
That’s our commitment when it comes to any potential subsidence from our operations.
We recognise that some landholders have concerns about CSG-induced subsidence, and we take these seriously.
Ground movement can occur from a range of ground activities, including farming and naturally occurring movements, and we monitor closely for any impacts from our operations.
If our operations have any adverse impact, we are required to compensate landholders under Queensland law. To be a good neighbour in the communities we operate in, we recognise the need to go above and beyond our regulatory requirements.

Rehabilitation
We are committed to leaving the land in the same, if not better condition, than how we found it.
When our infrastructure reaches its end of life, the land is reshaped and reseeded.
We then continue monitoring the land until our ecologists, the landholder, and Queensland Government are satisfied that it has been rehabilitated.
